england this morning. the winter storm moved ashore in the same location where superstorm sandy hit last week. there are new power outages in the region and up to 8" of snow in some of the places just what they didn't need. and it's interrupting recovery efforts, as well. teresa garcia has more from rockaway beach, new york. talk about piling on, right? >> reporter: yes, and frank, a good cold morning to you. just when people here thought they would be getting a break after superstorm sandy, in came the first nor'easter. people were along the shoreline communities pretty concerned that this was going to cause more flooding because we already have the ground so saturated. but indeed it turned into a snow or wind-driven snowstorm more so and actually caused some record snowfalls there. in central park in new york city, four inches. in new jersey, connecticut, up to a foot. here in rockaway beach they had at least 4." and all this snow is causing the clean-up efforts to be that much more difficult. >> high winds and heavy snow whipped the boardwalk in rockaway beach in queens, new york. tha

storm sandy. searchers have found the bodies of two boys swept out of their mother's arms on monday. now the family lost electricity at their home so the mother tried to drive to a relative's house. but her car was soon trapped by the raging waters. well they got out of the car, she started banging on doors but no one would help. that is when she lost hold of her two and four-year-old sons. >> it's a horrible story. you can't imagine a grief a parent would feel having the loss of their children. >> the mother survived. she was clinging to a post on a porch. the big storm has killed at least 37 people in the new york still area. all along the east coast 4.5 million homes and businesses still have no power this morning. and that is making the crisis even worse at the gas pumps. the outages forced a lot of gas stations to close while it's also disrupting the flow of fuel from refineries to the gas station that are open and the wait of some of the gas stations two hours long. >>> right now it looks like wall street is responding favorably to this mornings monthly jobs report for october. rel

by superstorm sandy. this morning the death toll is still rising. so far at least 70 people are confirmed dead. five million remain without power. but there is some good news. this is new video shot this morning at la guardia airport which is back up and running with limited service. subway service in new york city is also reopening today as well. also with limited service. now, in new jersey, the city of hoboken is a virtual island after 500 million gallons of water flooded the square mile town. officials say it will take at least two days to pump out all that water. the city's mayor says that's not the only thing the city needs to deal with from this disaster. they're picking up the pieces there. >>> in the meantime in greenwich, connecticut, firefighters just released this stunning video showing three mansions burning to the ground as sandy made landfall monday night. everyone that lived inside made it out safely, we're happy to say, but the homes, total loss. in the meantime after waiting out the storm, the candidates back on the campaign trail. we'll have a live report from capitol hill c
